    Ride Savers

I ride a Rad Rover Fat Tire and I ride it hard. Street riding has plagued me with punctures; usually in the rear tire, where the hub motor is housed. With my extended rides (Mount Dora to Wekiva Springs), going flat has left me stranded mid-trip or required the roadside changing of the rear tube (not an easy operation without a bike stand). Since installing the Tannus Armour (and new tubes), I have received my first puncture. The thing is, I did not KNOW that my tire had been punctured. I did not know for DAYS. Eventually, the pressure dropped enough for the tire to be visibly low on air; but, the battery’s performance decrease due to increased resistance was the immediate indication that something was amiss. While I have no idea WHEN my rear tube was punctured, it has been two weeks since the discovery and the addition of air to bring the tire back up to 30 PSI. In those two weeks, riding daily, I have not had to add air again, though I have not had any extended rides. I will top off before my next 20 mile trip just to keep battery performance optimal. As to the performance of Tannus Armour... I couldn’t be happier. If you ride a fat tire bike, and you also grab debris off the road with your tires, do yourself a HUGE favor. Get these. Seriously. I had Tuffy’s inserts before this (still do, between the tire and Tannus); but Tuffy’s won’t slow a leak or allow a tire to be ridden completely flat. Flats with Tuffy’s are still FLATS. With Tannus, your ride is saved. -Rad Randy

I've been abusing these inserts for 5,000 miles with 0 flats

If there's another Rambo sequel they'll be naming it "Armour." I live on gravel roads in Kansas (relatively close to the Dirty Kanza route for you gravel racing nuts.) Out here "gravel" actually means 0.5 - 1.5" rocks. On top of the gravel, my setup sporting the inserts is a ridiculously heavy electric bicycle I run at high speeds (30mph+) continuously. The inserts are running inside Schwalbe "Fat Frank" tires with kevlar sidewall protection. With all the abuse I've thrown at them they just won't die. 5,000 miles deep and not a single flat. The only tire pressure adjustment the bike has seen is due to cold weather. I'm quite certain I've violated nearly all of Tannus' recommendations and even so they still keep coming back for more. I'm not sure I even remember how to change a fat tire now and I'd like to keep it that way. If I had another one, I'd give these inserts 3 thumbs up. PS: Quick note to my fellow electric cyclists. You might be here reading this because you're non-negotiable when it comes to flats in the field. As am I. With a range of 30 miles and limited cell service; having a flat isn't ok. I'm also running Tannus Razorblades(airless) on a separate electric bike. The Armour inserts and the Razorblades have identical 0 flat track records. Love them both. The upside of the Armour inserts is being able to adjust pressure for different applications with and no explanation is required for how important rolling resistance is in terms of torque and efficiency.

    Easy!

I hesitated getting these because I'd seen complaints from others on the interwebz that they were hard to install and added too much weight to the bike. I did the math and saw they only add a tiny bit of weight and remembered *some people* are gram weinies and want their bikes to be made of angel dust or something else magical and remembered *some other people* complain about everything, first world probz, and consider just about everything to be too hard. I snapped out of it and placed the order. Out of the box, the Armour's are made of tough material, soft and sponge-y and strong and light as air and were easy to install. I had no issues with their fitment at all, it's really not much different than changing a tube. In fact, I had to do one of them twice (I realized I got the tread on the first tire backwards). So after having installed THREE I can honestly say it wasn't any big deal at all. And my bike doesn't feel noticeably different than before, weight or ride. I'm just glad I have that protection now. The reduction of flat anxiety is worth the investment and effort. Glad I did this instead of pumping stupid, messy, expensive slime in my tires, something that has a lower success rate and requires regular refills. The Armours are a smart, one-time investment and are maintenance-free. What's the problem? At this time I see no reason to give any less than a FIVE STAR rating. Will update the review if they don't perform as expected.

    Tannus Tubeless Pro inserts installation

I have to admit I have always been a bit skeptical about installing tire inserts. A lot of what I read previously was there is a nightmare. Then I found Tannus. Spent a good bit of time reading reviews and watching various YouTube vids until I felt comfortable enough with purchasing for my trail / downhill bike. The installation process was pretty straight forward. I run downhill casings on my Maxxis tires so that in itself is a joy bead wise. But I knew this going in. I got the bike in the stand, started with the back and then the front. Just popped the bead on one side which allowed for my to get the inserts in and center. Seated the bead, topped of with sealant and repeat. Only issue I had was with the front wheel. After insert installation and mounting, I noticed some wobble. Removed the valve core and worked my finger around the wheel ensuing the the insert was centered on the rim. Popped the bead back, added sealant and air and we were a lot closer. Turns out I had to true the front wheel in the end. I consider myself an accomplished amateur bike mechanic doing everything to maintenance to complete builds. That being said I would say that working with the Tannus project would be something anoyone with basic experience could undertake. Have patience and have spare tire levers (depending on the thickness of your casing).

I waited to review this because I wanted this to be thoughtful and helpful. This review is after putting these on 2 bikes with over 500 miles on each road bike. I needed a solution, I live in the worlds capital of goat head thorns I think. I would flat every other ride. At first, I loved them, a dozen rides without flatting. Then flatted 3 of 4 tires over 5 consecutive rides. I reached out to the manufacturer about why this might be happening and at first they were responsive, making sure I had the right size tires and tubes, etc. But when all that was right and I asked some additional questions and sent pictures, they stopped responding. Here is what I figured out. Either the website or the box said to deflate the tubes after each ride. I did this religiously and when I flatted and was changing it, each of the tubes was folded over on itself and rubbed a hole in itself. I surmised that this must be related to the repeated pressure changes. When I stopped letting them flat after each ride, the flats stopped. I just keep them inflated all the time. I don't know how this will affect the longevity over all, maybe make them thinner and more likely to puncture? Anyway, once I figured this out, very happy with their performance.

    Fantastic product

Have had 19 flats...uhm...yeah...since July 2019 on my road cycle. I ride about 3,500 miles per year. Tried tube inserts, different tires, slime, and heavy tubes to try to alleviate the problem, whatever it is. After using the Armour inserts can honestly say what a great difference in my ride! Improved my ride by cushioning the bumps; and improved my mental attitude because I can now ride without hyper-vigilant eyes on the trail looking for the perverse, invisible flat tire gods who were following me around. The Armour inserts did not seem to add weight to my bike, I was a little concerned about that prior to installing them; where I live there are drastic elevation changes if you want to ride. I do not notice any weight increase while riding or climbing. I do notice less rolling resistance with the inserts which is a pleasant improvement as well. The Armour inserts were easy to install and have so far, done a great job - exactly as described. Tannus company was easy to work with. One note, I do deflate my tires after each ride in order to prevent the inserts from compressing. The Armour inserts are a fantastic product.

    Very, very worth it.

OK, for starters, these things are IMPOSSIBLE to put on. Unless you read and follow the instructions. When you actually follow the instructions, they are really not very hard to install. I put these on the rear wheel of my ebike, on a WTB wheel. So the spokes are asymetrical on the rim, and I tried to put the tire on the side that didn't have spokes. It was impossible. I read the instructions on the Armour, looked again at the rim and realized that I needed to put it on the side that had the spokes so that there was a little more space along the spoke holes. It was a LITTLE harder than putting on a regular tire. Functionally, these are incredible. I didn't pump up my tire enough and this thing rolled an entire ride and prevented what should have been a billion pinch flats. I can now roll with lighter pressure without fear of a flat, and I'm a big guy on a heavy ebike. These are FAR BETTER than I expected. I'm now putting them on my cargo bike and I'm looking into all other Tannus products. Their airless tires are also EXCEPTIONAL. I'm beyond impressed.

Great until the tube valve stem got sepa

I am a weekend rider. Mostly ride on dirt trail in Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge in Colorado. Goats thorns are everywhere. Flat tire is a thing to deal with every time I hit the trail. I carried tire repair kits that saved me multiple occasions 10-15 miles from home. Finally I found Tannus and ordered on September 5, 2021. It was great and I did not need to carry tire repair kits. After 100 days with Tannus Armor (about 15 rides), I noticed that the rear tire got flat in the middle of nowhere. I examined the rear tire and it was found that the valve stem disappeared from the tube. I walked back home 5 miles. I was disappointed that the tube failed but the armor worked well. I am not sure if the tube was lemon or not. During 100 days (about 15 rides), I was expected to patch the tubes about 10 times but there was no flat tire incident. I would remove 2-3 goats thorns per tires after every ride. I got the replacement tubes from Amazon and carry it with me. I am confident that I will never have 5 mile walking home.....

    They Work

After a 2week span of getting multiple small puncture flats from thorns or goat heads on 45mm tires, I decided to give them a try. I was apprehensive at first, because I didn't want to give up any feel or performance on my gravel bike. I have had them for about 2 months and not a single flat, a couple of times I have even removed large goat heads, which normally would have made me change tubes during my ride. They do add a little weight, but worth it in my opinion and the install wasn't to hard. Also, I didn't experience any weird wobble or balance issues. I haven't tried them at low pressure in soft conditions yet due to weather I've mostly been riding hard gravel and road. I'm very happy with this purchase and thought I would leave a review, which I don't do very often, but if your on the fence like I was and concerned about lose of performance, don't be. Also had a positive experience with their customer service. I would highly recommend these inserts for gravel bikes.

The UPS truck dropped my new Tannus Armor just as I was headed to see a 90 year old relatives that grew up on bicycles and motorcycles. I took the seriously scrunched up piece of foam called Tanius Armor and asked him if he had any idea what it was. He was intrigued, and kept messing with it while we visited. When I got ready to leave I was surprised to see how round it had become... Wow! I grabbed some powder that I always use on tires and tubes after becoming a little scared by some of the reviews. I let the air out of my tire while I powdered the Tannis Armor and the new smaller tube. Then I popped one side of the tire off of the rim, pulled the old tube out and powdered the inside of the tire. The tannus went right in, then the tube went in, and the one side of the tire went on by hand prettt easy... no tools required. I aired it up two or three times pulling to get the tire even all the way around. Nothing difficult - riding 30 minutes after starting the install!

    so far so good

I bought a set of these for my son's fat tire ebike after 3 flats inside of a week. He uses his ebike for commuting to work. He has caught glass and somehow what looked like a thorn. My local bike shop told me about these Armour inserts, so I bought a set. The install took me about an hour. The most trouble I had was trying to get the valve stem through the hole in the rim. The Armour was slipping right over the hole. Finally got it. I found it easier to leave the tube deflated to insert it into the Armour and into the tire. I did notice after pumping the tires up, the tire was out of round so I deflated them almost flat and massaged the tires which apparently seated the tube better. My son says the ride is much better and softer. We originally inflated to 15lbs but with the Armour, seems more like 10lbs is hard enough. The manufacturer says 30lbs without Armour so this is kind of see what is best as you ride.

    Excellent Customer Service!

I recently purchased the Tannus Armour for my RR and will be getting them installed soon but after reading the reviews, I know I will be very happy with them. This review is for the fantastic customer service I received from their rep, Hillary. When I purchased the Tannus Armour, I used a 15% discount promo code but the next day while reading more reviews, I stumbled on a 20% discount code - score! I wasn't sure if I needed to cancel my order and re-order to get the additional discount. (I didn't want to cancel and re-order because I have an appointment already scheduled to have them installed and can't risk any delays in shipping) I contacted customer support and Hillary took care of the additional discount without having to cancel and re-order. You don't get this kind of support often. Thank you Hillary and Tannus Armour!

I put these on a Bakcou Storm that I ride on dirt 25 to 30 miles a week. The weekly flats from goat heads are no more. At first, I was disappointed with the ride. I found that I had to add 2 lbs of pressure to equal the same rolling speed and distance as before. The fact that I had to add air after every ride for the first week, tells me that the liners need some time to break in. Now, they maintain tire pressure, and my ride quality is better than before. They are more sticky in the corners and are a big improvement over my tires without the liners. My tires are 26x4 and I used a 26x3 tube with the liners (bought separately). For those worrying about the additional weight of the liners, don’t. My battery usage, rolling distance, speed, gear selection and effort required to pedal the bike are unchanged.

    Armour Inserts

Used on (an old) 27 x 1.25 road bike rim

I could not use Tannus airless tires, as my tire bead mounting surface was smooth. The 700x28-34c Tannus armor inserts fit however,…you need the ingenuity of Albert Einstein and the physical stress of Sampson to accomplish this. I also installed thick puncture/thorn resistant inner-tubes (do you get the idea that I do not want a flat?). I believe the run-flat claim is valid. The tires are VERY stiff even without air. The included instructions recommend deflating your tires, when you're not riding, to avoid continuous compressing/squeezing of the insert. Although somewhat inconvenient, this is a small price to pay for continued puncture resistance. The inserts are expensive, but as the saying goes "you get what you pay for". All-in-all, I am very pleased with the riding confidence these inserts give me.

Thanks for the fantastic product! Absolutely money well spent.

I live in Palm Springs, CA, where goatheads are a huge problem for cyclists of any sort, especially post rain. I bought a pair of Tannus liners in October per the recommendation of my mechanic, and I am ecstatic with the results. I had switched out the stock 4 X 26 MTB tires for more comfortable on-road tires, as my use is almost exclusively commuter. After having gotten 2 flats in 2 weeks, I pulled the trigger and had my mechanic install my new Tannus liners. I've not had one single issue since, and I'm happy to report there are 2 added bonuses to the obvious puncture protection. There is a very noticeable improvement in comfort and cornering. The liners have added a very welcomed cushiness to my ride, and there is a definite improvement in cornering, adding a level of cornering confidence.

I've been making custom motor bike for seven years and the biggest problem I've had is when u put slime or any thing to help combat flats it all will gather to one place inside of the tires when u get to a certain speed and most of the time it doesn't even fix the leak ,and u get a wobbling in both your tires that will make u crash ,but with the tannus system that is a thing of the past ,now i can pust what used to be the speed max (25-30 mph) all the way to 65mph (with a dry shot of nos) and it is smooth as flying,it might be a little pricey but I've gone the other route and in the long run (over life of exterior tire)I've saved more money from not having to replace tubes and puncture proofing over again that paid for the tannus system for both tires at least 3 times over

Ran over a nail and no flat! Fabulous

I bought a pair of these for my 'all road' bike in Florida. I am a snowbird. Put 1600 miles on with no flats! I returned to Canada and bought a pair for my bike here. Two weeks ago I felt something on my rear wheel as I set out on my ride. I was at about 6 km. There was a nail right through the tire entering the middle and exiting the side-you could see the head and point of the nail. I pulled it out expecting to hear the tube express it's air but it didn't. I continued on my 95 km ride without any issues. These inserts are the best investment I have made to improve the enjoyment of my rides-no worries about flats. I have put over 1300 km on them so far. I only wish they made them small enough to fit my road bike (700x25). My only regret is that I didn't take a photo:(

Armor Inserts For Added Thorn Protect!

I was getting tired of having to deal with the thorns that were creating small hard to find holes in my tires and tubes. These Armour inserts are ideal to stop that from happening. They add another layer of armor to the tires, before anything would pierce the tube. Installing them, is not really difficult, if you take the time to think about what you are doing, and simply paying attention to the details, and working the insert, with the tube in place around the rim at the same time. Then once it is in place, I kind of squeezed around the tires to make sure everything seemed to be seated properly. So far so good. I've gone over some areas that thorns would definitely have been an issue without the Armour inserts, and these held up with no issues at all.

Used on my son's RadRunner fat tire e-bike, several weeks later I was checking out his bike. I noticed construction staples stuck into the rear tire. (see pitures) no big deal, they were no long enough to go through the foam to the tube. I also removed 10-15 "goathead" stickers from each tire. Again, no big deal tubes un-touched, bike running fine. We run the tires at lower pressures, he has a smoother ride, and well, no punctures since adding them. Make sure you follow the Mfgr.'s instructions of replacing your tubes with smaller ones when installing. If not the full size tubes may compact the foam liner vastly decreasing it's effectiveness. Smaller tubes leave room for the foam to stay non-compacted and do it's job.

    These will change everything

Here in Douglas/Bisbee these will change everything-- I am going to show them to the Border Patrol and all my other friends. What a wonder solution to all types of riding I am 76 years old now and I sure don't need to interrupt my time to ride fixing a flat - plus the roadways a very nasty and these liners smooth out the ride. I fix maybe a hundred bikes at my ranch every year and leaky tires are a pain. I have many bikes myself including E bikes but I mainly ride fixed if the wind is not too bad. If I would have had these liners during my past ? It would have changed that constant fear of flats. Thanks so much from an old framebuilder that also still rides a road bike that I made back in 1967 and it still is sweet.

These should be a requirement for all E-bikes cause taking off the back tires on any E-bike with the motor in it every time you get a flat is a hassle and annoying. With these guys you will never have to worry about a flat again. Pros: -Thick enough to stop 90% of what punctures your tires -Gives your ride a softer feel -Flats will be the LAST thing you will have to worry about. Cons: -For 3in x20in Ebike tires i had to cut the sides of the "Armour punctue" product shorter cuase they hanged too low and was making it hard for me to get the tire back on to the rim. It wasn't to hard though, all I had to do was put it inside the tire and mark all around the side where the tire end, and cut the extra off product.

I bought my e-bike and got 4 goathead flats in the first week. Since I have installed these and over a year later I have put over 1K miles on them without a flat. Highly recommend! I have read that when many people get a flat with these because they ran over a 1 inch + screw or nail straight into their tire. They said when they took the tube out the insert was very compressed and almost flat. They get compressed by the air pressure over time and get squeezed down in size. Resolution…….. every once in a while when you will not be riding you bike for a few days, deflate the tires. If they have been compressed, this will allow them to bounce back to their original size.
