I've been abusing these inserts for 5,000 miles with 0 flats

If there's another Rambo sequel they'll be naming it "Armour." I live on gravel roads in Kansas (relatively close to the Dirty Kanza route for you gravel racing nuts.) Out here "gravel" actually means 0.5 - 1.5" rocks. On top of the gravel, my setup sporting the inserts is a ridiculously heavy electric bicycle I run at high speeds (30mph+) continuously. The inserts are running inside Schwalbe "Fat Frank" tires with kevlar sidewall protection. With all the abuse I've thrown at them they just won't die. 5,000 miles deep and not a single flat. The only tire pressure adjustment the bike has seen is due to cold weather. I'm quite certain I've violated nearly all of Tannus' recommendations and even so they still keep coming back for more. I'm not sure I even remember how to change a fat tire now and I'd like to keep it that way. If I had another one, I'd give these inserts 3 thumbs up. PS: Quick note to my fellow electric cyclists. You might be here reading this because you're non-negotiable when it comes to flats in the field. As am I. With a range of 30 miles and limited cell service; having a flat isn't ok. I'm also running Tannus Razorblades(airless) on a separate electric bike. The Armour inserts and the Razorblades have identical 0 flat track records. Love them both. The upside of the Armour inserts is being able to adjust pressure for different applications with and no explanation is required for how important rolling resistance is in terms of torque and efficiency.

    Easy!

I hesitated getting these because I'd seen complaints from others on the interwebz that they were hard to install and added too much weight to the bike. I did the math and saw they only add a tiny bit of weight and remembered *some people* are gram weinies and want their bikes to be made of angel dust or something else magical and remembered *some other people* complain about everything, first world probz, and consider just about everything to be too hard. I snapped out of it and placed the order. Out of the box, the Armour's are made of tough material, soft and sponge-y and strong and light as air and were easy to install. I had no issues with their fitment at all, it's really not much different than changing a tube. In fact, I had to do one of them twice (I realized I got the tread on the first tire backwards). So after having installed THREE I can honestly say it wasn't any big deal at all. And my bike doesn't feel noticeably different than before, weight or ride. I'm just glad I have that protection now. The reduction of flat anxiety is worth the investment and effort. Glad I did this instead of pumping stupid, messy, expensive slime in my tires, something that has a lower success rate and requires regular refills. The Armours are a smart, one-time investment and are maintenance-free. What's the problem? At this time I see no reason to give any less than a FIVE STAR rating. Will update the review if they don't perform as expected.

    Best things

Just as good as cushcore inserts for rim protection but the best thing with the trannus armour is you can actually install them easily nothing like putting on a bloody Cush core takes me ages with a dh casing tyre

    Extra flat protection is priceless

I just installed these on my MTB (29"x2.5"). The install was no harder than installing a tire but I did have a little difficulty with one tire wobbling. I tried "massaging" it like in the install video but that didn't help. I finally just uninstalled everything and reinstalled it being extra careful to line everything up (went much easier 2nd time around). I can't tell the difference but I am glad knowing I have the extra flat protection which is priceless. Highly recommended.

    These will change everything

Here in Douglas/Bisbee these will change everything-- I am going to show them to the Border Patrol and all my other friends. What a wonder solution to all types of riding I am 76 years old now and I sure don't need to interrupt my time to ride fixing a flat - plus the roadways a very nasty and these liners smooth out the ride. I fix maybe a hundred bikes at my ranch every year and leaky tires are a pain. I have many bikes myself including E bikes but I mainly ride fixed if the wind is not too bad. If I would have had these liners during my past ? It would have changed that constant fear of flats. Thanks so much from an old framebuilder that also still rides a road bike that I made back in 1967 and it still is sweet.

Great product from a great company

I had a small issue with my order but it was quickly resolved. I install the Tannus armour on a specialized hybrid I ride on the should of the highway where I get alot of flats. They were easy to install with a little body powder. I run 15 pound less pressure but have the same firmness. They roll very good with no drag and smooth out the bumps. The factory has the best prices and service too. Ed H

    Bike Park Tested - A +!

The armour and tube installed with ease. Did non stop bike park laps for two days at Angel Fire with zero issues. This bike park is rough, steep, and rocky....I switched from tubeless in the rear and immediately noticed how the armour blunted the chatter and the tire stuck to the ground like glue! It was a night and difference. Any weight difference was negligable, especially for a DH bike. I plan to put one on rear wheel of my enduro bike as well! In my case, it works beautifully with tannus armour in the back and tubeless in the front. Can't recommend it enough!

    Fantastic product

Have had 19 flats...uhm...yeah...since July 2019 on my road cycle. I ride about 3,500 miles per year. Tried tube inserts, different tires, slime, and heavy tubes to try to alleviate the problem, whatever it is. After using the Armour inserts can honestly say what a great difference in my ride! Improved my ride by cushioning the bumps; and improved my mental attitude because I can now ride without hyper-vigilant eyes on the trail looking for the perverse, invisible flat tire gods who were following me around. The Armour inserts did not seem to add weight to my bike, I was a little concerned about that prior to installing them; where I live there are drastic elevation changes if you want to ride. I do not notice any weight increase while riding or climbing. I do notice less rolling resistance with the inserts which is a pleasant improvement as well. The Armour inserts were easy to install and have so far, done a great job - exactly as described. Tannus company was easy to work with. One note, I do deflate my tires after each ride in order to prevent the inserts from compressing. The Armour inserts are a fantastic product.

    Good ride and no flats

The inserts were easy to install. No trimming required for my tires. I have ridden with them for a month now, with no flats riding six days a week for 15 miles on city streets and bike paths. Previously I averaged one flat per week with slime filled tires on the same routes. So far they have worked beyond expectations. No real difference in ride.

    No More Flats!

I purchased the Tannus Armour inserts for my road bike after having flats every ride I went on in the spring. I haven't had a flat since installing the Tannus Armour. I thought I would notice the tire being heavier but have not. The inserts were easy to install and I no longer carry tubes with me while riding. There is reduced vibration and a smoother ride with Tannus Armour installed. I highly recommend these for all cyclists.

    Saying goodbye to "Goatheads"

I bought the Tannus Armour Inserts for both of our MTB E-Bikes and so far, love them! The insert was not that difficult to install, especially after installing the first one (learned the technique). I used footpowder (as recommended) in the tire and Insert, which allows for easy adjustments. The bikes ride very nicely, just took some experimenting with different tire pressures to find the PSI we liked (F=20, R=25). I'm hoping that the next time I have to change a tire on our bikes is to replace the tire and not because of a flat :-) Hoping for freedom and saying goodbye to goathead flats!

    Tannus has a bright future!

Today I rode my brand new specialized levo mixed wheelset. Loved my Tannus inserts on my first maiden voyage. 17 miles into my ride in the Idaho backcountry I experienced a sidewall tear on my rear wheel. All of my Stan’s leaked out and I was unable to seal the tear. I was able to limp 5 miles out to a road. I rode it out and was very careful not to take any hard hits on my tire and rim. No damage to my rim. Never has that ever happened to me and this is a total game changer in mountain biking. Tannus has a bright future!

    Highly Recommend

I just ordered Tannus Armour inserts for my new e-bike. I had them installed over two years ago on my Aventon e-bike. Over 6,600 miles later, still NO flats. I live in Arizona where there are many branches with thorns on the streets and gravel; so WOW, what a great product. I highly recommend them which is obviously why I ordered another set!

    They Work

After a 2week span of getting multiple small puncture flats from thorns or goat heads on 45mm tires, I decided to give them a try. I was apprehensive at first, because I didn't want to give up any feel or performance on my gravel bike. I have had them for about 2 months and not a single flat, a couple of times I have even removed large goat heads, which normally would have made me change tubes during my ride. They do add a little weight, but worth it in my opinion and the install wasn't to hard. Also, I didn't experience any weird wobble or balance issues. I haven't tried them at low pressure in soft conditions yet due to weather I've mostly been riding hard gravel and road. I'm very happy with this purchase and thought I would leave a review, which I don't do very often, but if your on the fence like I was and concerned about lose of performance, don't be. Also had a positive experience with their customer service. I would highly recommend these inserts for gravel bikes.

    Not again

I have a Rocky Mtn. Altitude ebike and I was riding a trail called skid marks ( they should of named it Rim Wrecker) for those of you familiar with the slaughter pen trail system in Bentonville,Ar. The very first jump is a rock jump with a sharp rock wall at the landing. I didn't have enough speed and my back tire cased it perfect for destroying my rim. Thanks to my insert I rode away a happy man! Last wknd. I cut my back tire 3 miles from my truck and no bacon. Again thanks to Tannus I was able to ride out. I love my inserts, best money I ever spent.

    Save yourself the grief

Installed these on the wife's e-bike since she could find every tube destroying problem on any trail. Before the inserts almost every trip out she would get a flat and usually miles from the truck. Put these on and no flats since (1 year of riding on them). Just upgraded her bike and I am now in search of inserts for the new bike tire size. Thanks to Tannus Armour inserts riding is fun...

This is a must for NYC riders

I randomly saw this in a shop , the shop specializes in all thing PEV, I had some hydro brake fluid issues, they set me up quick and easy, check my ride height, air pressure, the other brake, everything. I saw these red floppy worms on the floor and hanging up on hooks. I had to ask, it was pricey with the purchase and installation. I went home to research the inserts. Most reviews was ok, to just not worth it. I found most people are lazy and don’t do any basic checks and maintenance. The reason why customers gave it a not worth it reviews. It’s amazing. Expensive but it saves your sanity.

    The best

I've been making custom motor bike for seven years and the biggest problem I've had is when u put slime or any thing to help combat flats it all will gather to one place inside of the tires when u get to a certain speed and most of the time it doesn't even fix the leak ,and u get a wobbling in both your tires that will make u crash ,but with the tannus system that is a thing of the past ,now i can pust what used to be the speed max (25-30 mph) all the way to 65mph (with a dry shot of nos) and it is smooth as flying,it might be a little pricey but I've gone the other route and in the long run (over life of exterior tire)I've saved more money from not having to replace tubes and puncture proofing over again that paid for the tannus system for both tires at least 3 times over

    Safe in the Back Country

I ride into the back country on the Deschutes River for fishing. I carry a lot of gear, and ride over dirt, gravel, not a small amount of very angular basalt, and sometimes a good amount of weeds and plants including goat heads. It is known to be very hard on bike tires. With these, and Shwalbe Marathon Plus MTB tires, I ride without fear. Carrying spare tires and tools is almost a waste of weight at this point.

    Tannus Tubeless Pro inserts installation

I have to admit I have always been a bit skeptical about installing tire inserts. A lot of what I read previously was there is a nightmare. Then I found Tannus. Spent a good bit of time reading reviews and watching various YouTube vids until I felt comfortable enough with purchasing for my trail / downhill bike. The installation process was pretty straight forward. I run downhill casings on my Maxxis tires so that in itself is a joy bead wise. But I knew this going in. I got the bike in the stand, started with the back and then the front. Just popped the bead on one side which allowed for my to get the inserts in and center. Seated the bead, topped of with sealant and repeat. Only issue I had was with the front wheel. After insert installation and mounting, I noticed some wobble. Removed the valve core and worked my finger around the wheel ensuing the the insert was centered on the rim. Popped the bead back, added sealant and air and we were a lot closer. Turns out I had to true the front wheel in the end. I consider myself an accomplished amateur bike mechanic doing everything to maintenance to complete builds. That being said I would say that working with the Tannus project would be something anoyone with basic experience could undertake. Have patience and have spare tire levers (depending on the thickness of your casing).
