I have an RV with 2 Coleman Mach AC units. Each AC would run by itself, but not simultaneously from my Honda EU 3000IS Inverter Generator. I bought two of the 364 soft-start units and had them professionally installed by my local AC contractor. After installation, each AC ran fine by itself as they did prior to installing 364 soft start, but regardless of which AC I started first, turning on the 2nd AC would trip the Honda overload. After spending over $800 on Soft Starts and labor to install, I cannot run both simultaneously. I guess you need two, 2000 watt generators or one 4000+ watt. Don't let anyone tell you the Soft Start will allow two AC units to run with less.
Owner replied:

Hello Craig, Sorry to hear that your power management environment is not enough for your two A/C units. Our EasyStart Soft Starter’s primary job is to reduce and then manage the initial amperage needed to start an A/C’s compressor motor, which is the most common problem found in portable power situations. In reference to your quote, “Don't let anyone tell you the Soft Start will allow two AC units to run with less.” We would appreciate it if you could point us to where that information was found on our web site as we are always striving to publish the most accurate and clear information possible. Never hesitate to contact us through our online support form (top of the page), our team is always available for clear solutions and or recommendations based on your needs.

Is this just shorting ground and neutral together to avoid grounding it? Is it wise to avoid grounding a generator?

Resolves the issue of certain RV Surge Protector/Power Monitors reporting a fault for an unbonded neutral ("OPEN GROUND" or "E2" fault) when your RV is plugged into a portable generator. Many RV owners now use surge protectors when they plug their RVs into campground utility power hook-ups. These surge protectors can be portable types or they can be built-in to your RV's power system. When powering the trailer from a portable generator, the more sophisticated surge protector devices will report an "OPEN GROUND" or "OPEN NEUTRAL" fault. In actuality, this fault is simply due to the fact that all portable generators keep separated the neutral power connection and the earth ground connection. This is known as an unbonded neutral. To resolve this problem, all you need is Micro-Air’s plug with a single wire connection inside. Progressive Industries® manufactures some of the most popular surge protector/power monitors in the RV market.

This was such a pain in the soft part before I found this. Great for any camper to carry for the moment when needed. Simple. Sometimes when my generator isn't grounded (i.e. pound a metal spike into the ground and attach it to the gennie) the message I get on my generator is "open neutral". That can stop my generator from starting. Other campers get a message of "open neutral". This is a true reading and not some sort of electronic error. The Bonding Plug TRULY bonds the open neutral or open ground and solves the problem. Voila! How to install: just plug it into the outlet on your generator and walk away. Voila again! Brilliant! Yosje

Saw the ads, read the reviews, watched the youtube.com video MicroAir produced, and bought the EasyStart 364 for our 13.5k BTU travel trailer. Instructions were well-written, diagrams well laid-out, and kit was complete. Cut, stripped, crimped, and buttoned-up; 5 starts on the house plug and then on the 2K generator. No problems, no regrets, no hot summer nights for my bride of 20-years. Thanks! Great Product!

Wound up buying 3 of these over time for my home AC’s as I proved to myself how well they worked. Great customer service to explain diagnostics from soft start 368 and tune to specific situation. I have run both my 2 ton and 3.5 ton AC units individually on my 8750 watt inverter generator ( while still running fridges and lights etc) which is comforting to know I can do as I live on gulf coast and extended power loss due to hurricanes is highly likely. A bit expensive but worth it!

I want to thank the staff at Microair for their outstanding product. We are in Florida and working through Hurricane Ian. The soft start product works as advertised and has kept us safe and comfortable.

I'm using a 12 amp 120 volt EV car charger with a Jackery PRO 2000 power bank in a few specific situations, but the EV car charger wouldn't work without detecting a ground. The Generator Bonding Plug solves that problem perfectly - just plug it into one of the other A/C outlets on the Jackery. This should also solve the problem if you're using a power inverter connected to a battery to produce 120 volt A/C current.
