She could very well be a danger not only to her clan but shifters in general. The mating time pushes her into dream walking where she finds her mate locked in a cell. A mate that is forbidden and the fact she doesn't want one... still it doesn't keep her from leaving to find that dream man.Lucas a guardian of his clan, the keeper of the laws. Or dispatcher of punishments, whichever title fits him better. He isn't looking to settle down, but when he's thrown in a cell he feels her invade his mind, and invade she does with sultry hotness that has his animal wanting out.Fate does just what it wants, not caring for rules made up by mere mortals. Now fate has pushed Lucas and Kira together. His rage at thinking he's betrayed, her powers clashing inside of her head. Along with some pretty hot passion and yumminess of naked bodies slapping together.. Eliza Gayle, captivates us with this paranormal delight. The book is well written, the characters are fascinating. Gave the book the book 5 stars because as beautiful as Eliza's book are her PNR( paranormal romance) is outstanding. What lengths would you go to to find yourself? Would you endured any pain to reunite with your destiny? Kira MacDonald has a ton of trouble and kit may prove more then she can handle. She is losing her grip with her sanity and she is tormented by thoughts of a dark and handsome man. Can she fight the attraction and bond of her mate? She doesn't want to be like her mother tormented and abuse, will her life stop being her own? Rescuing her mate may prove to be a blessing and a curse...and when she comes face to face with none other than Lucas Gunn. It just can't be! As guardian and protector of his clan, Lucas Gunn lives a relatively quiet life, with that it's a very lonesome existence. Until the day he was kidnapped and imprisoned( the experiments,torture and degradation). His mind is link to a redheaded goddess, passionate and welling..is she for real and the big question, is she really the rescuer or was he cause of his plight? Kira and Lucas are consumed with their mating heat, that has become increasingly unbearable. The animalistic lust and carnal desire. This is a must-read book and shouldn't be missed!

This book was more action than romance, but still managed to be pretty steamy. A few times I actually found myself wishing I was in Kira's shoes... Or spot on the bed... Or in her place against the tree... (smiles dreamily to self...)Speaking of Kira... She was just awesome. She's strong, feisty, and fiercely independent... Just the kind of girl Lucas needed. Oh and she's also pretty good at being a submissive. (I find myself reading more and more books featuring the BDSM lifestyle these days. I'm not sure if it's just the new trend or if it's just me being kinky... If it's the former, I'm definitely not complaining ;) )Overall, I really liked this book, but deducted a star since it went from the characters not really knowing how they felt about each other (other than sexually) to them all of a sudden madly in love with each other. I understand that they aren't human, but I still think a bit more build-up would have been better. I loved all the action and the back-and-forth between Kira and Lucas (which earned it all 4 stars). The hot sex and Dom/sub roles were just icing on the cake.I will most definitely be reading the next book I the series. I'm a bit eager to find out what happens between Lucas' brother Kane and a certain someone... (No spoilers here!)

I picked this book because the of the hunk and the black cougar on the cover. (Mostly the hunk). Oh, and it being free was a good reason also. Glad I picked it. Eliza Gayle put out something new in her book that peaked my interest. She had other paranormal in there other than just shifters. She did her job, my interest was peaked at the beginning and held till the very end.In order to fix her false visions and erotic dreams Kira MacDonald has to find her mate and bond with him. If she doesn't do this soon she is scared she will lose her mind and then be put to death in order to protect her clan.Lucas Gunn is the Guardian of his shape-shifting clan and he is kidnapped, examined, and tortured. All he has left is he erotic dreams of the beauty who haunts his dreams. Little does she know this beauty is on her way to rescue him.Between the mating call that won’t be denied, rituals that must be honored, and unrelenting enemies who will stop at nothing to get what they want. In the end, there’s really only one choice…for Lucas.No spoilers. A very good read and promise you will not be disappointed

This books story line is incredible!. The Characters are amazing!. In this story with the on set of Kira's mating call she has been having visions of a mysterious stranger. They have even almost made her wreck her car. Up on till lately they have been of the sexual nature. Now she sees him as a captive in a cell.Lucas is a shifter and he has been captured, and is being held in a cell. The ones are holding him are trying to get him to shift. The only reprieve he has is in his dreams of a sexy woman. He knows if he escapes or is rescues he will hunt her down. Is Kira's mystery man real?. Can she find him in time?. You will love these Southern shifter Romances!. I have read a couple of others and each one is amazing!. This one has spine-tingling suspense, action and scorching hot Romance!. This is a five star book from a five star plus series!

This is a shifter romance with suspense and mystery. Ms Gayle has done a fabulous job of writing a story that keeps the reader reading just one more chapter before they have to get on with life. Lucas is a black panther who is a guardian for his clan. He has to enforce the rules of the clan and carry out all sentences by the council. He doesn't have time for a mate and he doesn't want one. Then he's captured and his mate comes to rescue him. Only he doesn't know all the nuances of mating with someone from her clan. She isn't a shifter but a powerful woman with psi powers. When she frees Lucas the sparks fly and the sexual tension is off the charts.you won't want to miss the mating dance between this couple. A really good read!

I got this book awhile back but forgot about it until several of my other authors were writing in this world that Eliza Gayle created. So I read the first book so I can get a better understanding of this Shifter World.I liked this book because it shows that sometimes the old rules need to bend or be changed completely. I didn't really like the ending as it left the issue of Lara totally open. I know that's the next book but still...This book does have a HEA (kinda) for Lucas & Kira - I would really like to know in the vision why she is sad while preggo. I guess that's another reason to get the next couple of books. Hopefully that question is answered. As well as how their powers will blend.

I would heartily recommend this book to those who love great romantic shifter tales. Kira couldn't stop dreaming about a man who seemed to be trapped. Lucas wondered who the beautiful redhead was who kept invading his dreams. Getting kidnapped and interrogated about his clan was not something that he had planned. Then he senses someone coming and thinks that this person is here to confuse him. Kira came to help rescue Lucas and find out why and how he can tap into her mind. Can he be her mate? If so it's forbidden but if the mating is not finished she will go mad and her clan will put her down. Readers should enjoy reading about these two people who try to deny fate.

It took me a bit to get thru the first two or three chapters but then the story had me. In my opinion, it's a very good read and unique enough that you don't feel like it's something close to what you've already read before. It has strong, enchanting characters that you can relate to and feel for. It's an actual book/ story and not just a teaser like all the short stories or books that have been broken up into different parts, if you know what I mean. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to others. Most importantly, I do plan on continuing the series and am I retested to see what happens with the other characters.

I loved Kira and Lucas. Kira needs to mate - like now or else she will go crazy. Lucas is a prisoner and doesn't realize that Kira is his mate right away. By the time he realizes the deal, Kira is halfway to looneyville and sentenced to death. It's a great book with lovable characters. I loved the lengths Lucas would go to in his effort to protect his mate to be but of course Kira is sort of a bad a$$ in her own right. So she wants to catch the bad guys on her own, which of course she gets captured instead. Great action, great love, and great fun. I can't wait to read Mate Night - Kanes story.

This book included a lot of elements that I really enjoy - shapeshiters, psychic abilities, romance and a strong female h. The book captured my attention immediately with Kira's psychic vision of Lucas, seeing through his eyes and sensing his barely contained anger at being locked in a cage. She recognizes him as a shifter and her mate even though shifters do not mate outside their clan. From there she uses her skills to locate him and free him from captivity as they face other trials. The story held my interest throughout and would recommend it to others who enjoy this genre.

I loved it. I have always been a fan of Gayle's work but this book was exceptional! Exciting! Imaginative! Well Written! Smart! Thrilling! Romantic! Totally Sexy! And Hot as Hell! Oh my! Intriguing characters that jump off the page and grab your attention! A fantastic story that captivates and enthralls you! I was hooked from the very beginning and totally addicted until the very last page. Totally hot male shifters-check! Sassy sexy female-check! Great story-check! A lot of romance and lots of hot sex-check and check! What more could you ask for? Right? Hubba! Hubba!

A man needing to be rescued and a woman who desperately needs him but does not want him. I love the premise of this story. The characters were interesting and I wanted to read this book so I could learn more about their lives. I love it when the author has additional characters that are so interesting you hope the next book in the series is about them. I also love it when there are bad people who need to be killed. But, who is bad and who is good? Or maybe it is a little in between. I also love a book that makes me think, and this one did that.

This was a great start to a new series. In a world where it is forbidden to mix the different supernatural clans, a forbidden bond both saves a life as well as destroys others. If Kira doesn't find her mate, and soon, she will succumb to the insanity that curses her clan if the mating ritual doesn't happen soon. Unfortunately, her chosen mate is from another clan, and even worse, he thinks she is his enemy. I enjoys the romance between Lucas and Kira, and the familial bonds between the brothers. I would read more from this author.
