Broken Saint is the first book in the duet. This book has a little bit of everything in it. It is a Mafia arranged marriage dark romance . Catherine's father is the Don and he rules with an iron fist, he informs her that she will marry the person of his choosing and she does not have a say in the matter, she is just expected to obey. Catherine makes a deal with her father that she will follow thru with his deal but in 5 years. She meets a man named Rock and begins a no names affair with him, however he is aware of who she actually is. Rock is actually an FBI agent who is seeking information about some blood diamonds. There are a lot of secrets, drama, suspense, some BDSM and some very hot chemistry. Ronin, the man her father has chosen for her to marry shows up to claim her and the drama ensues. Catherine has started to develop real feelings for Rock, but are those feelings returned? I loved the characters in this story. They were engaging in their interactions. They were likable and believable and they had amazing chemistry. I've never been big on mafia romances yet I will admit a few authors have tempted me and won me over. I have been fan of E. M. Gayle from her Dom series and when I got the chance to read this book I grabbed it. The BEST dark mafia romance ever. The characters are complex, the storyline intense and the heat level Unbelievably scorching. Once again she blew me away with her ability to draw the reader in to a world that should NOT be so entrancing yet it is and I feel all the more hypnotized by her articulate style. A must read for anyone who has read anything by her in the past and for new readers to fall into a world where the darker corners of life become an obsession with promises of more to come.

Broken Saint by E.M. Gayle was a PHENOMENAL piece of writing!!! I absolutely LOVED the story of Rock, Ronin, and Nova. She’s incognito…daughter of a high-level kingpin…she negotiates a deal with her father. She meets Rock…whom she has a ongoing relationship with….until he discovers what she is to Ronin!!!!DRAAAAAMA!!!! There’s so much going on in the suspenseful, eye-popping, shocking story!!!! This book was not what I expected. Everyone is not who they seem and have lots of secrets. Nova is falling in love but conflicted because it was only meant to be temporary while knowing she must marry another. I honestly don't know who she will end up with! I really enjoyed reading this story. From the very beginning I was rooting for Rock and Nova, but then Ronin came along and I liked him too. As of now, I'm not sure who I would pick for Nova, maybe she could get both. The story was very dark and exciting and had me turning the pages until I was completely done. Nova is a strong and smart daughter of a cruel mob boss who was arranged to marry Ronin. She hates this idea and doesn't understand the electricity she feels when she is around him because there is no way she could want to be with him, especially since she is in love with her lover, Rock. Rock is keeping his own secrets from her though. The way this book ended as me eagerly anticipating the release of the next book. Broken Saint by EM Gayle. WOW! This one just jumps right into the dark and twisted drama of the Cullotta crime family. My heart broke for Catherine and her plight in this disarranged family. I was really hoping the Rock would be the mystery husband in the arranged marriage and they would live HEA. But there is so much more to this story than an easy ending. There is dark drama, action and suspense, lies and betrayals, at times heated passion and steam, and always strong and determined characters that come across as twisted and unremorseful.
