Soli Deo Gloria

As physically active as our kids are, we keep a medical kit ready for all situations. Having gauze and bandages of all sizes is a must. I’m adding this TurfGaurd dressing as an alternative option for rug burns which they’re very prone to do, and now we’re adding gymnasium floor burns to the list due to inside sports. These are difficult to treat considering the larger area of open skin wound, so TurfGaurd is a no brainer. I like that the gel side of the dressing goes directly on the wound (after cleaning) so we don’t have to worry about gauze threads sticking anymore. This product could be kept on the wound for up to seven days, but we don’t do more than a couple days to allow for the initial pain & healing, then it needs to be exposed to air for natural care. I suppose the only complaint I have is that this product expects you to provide your own bandage wrap over the dressing. I find this is necessary to provide additional protection, to keep the dressing especially clean if worn for multiple days, and simply to act as a reminder for people to stay away. We have plenty of bandage wraps so this isn’t a major issue for me…but for those that don’t, you need to take buying a wrap into consideration of the cost. The price of this TurfGuard is a bit high at $3 per dressing already. But altogether the product works and it’s a unique solution for a specific wound type. A must-add now in our house.

And an essential prep to have. These are marketed for turf burn, and are certainly appropriate for that, but these are great to use with any kind of abrasion injury, most notably road rash. Happy to have gotten them and they are going into the first aid kit.

This package of Turfguard Turf Burn and Wound Dressing, Hydrogel Pads with X-Static Silver from The Medagel Store came as six in the package, they are 2" x 3" in size. These are easy to apply and feel nice and cooling on minor burns. You do have to cover with a dressing though as these have no adhesive on them. This dressing can be left on for a few days, no longer than four I believe before changing as long as the wound is not weeping. These are good to have in a first aid kit.
