I have several brands and qualities of flutes. I consider myself an enthusiastic novice, no longer a beginner. I like to sit by the Oregon streams and play. Or pull my bike over at a bench and play for a couple hours at a time. So the flute watering up is a problem. The mobility, size, resistance to watering, cost and reputation of High Spirit drew me to the Spirit model. I was initially concerned about whether the loss of any buffering effect of my breath without the larger first air chamber might make it harder to play. But I shouldn't have worried. This is the easiest flute I have ever played. I love it. I take it everywhere bike, boat and car, and never have to worry about the totem moving. I now have to own up to those squawk notes, I can't blame the watering or the totem position. I even bought the Zodiac version in the key of A. All I have to say about it is ditto to everything I have written above.
An added plus is that whenever I sit down in a public place to play, at least one person comes over and compliments the beauty of its sound and want to know everything about it. It's fun! My wife calls it a chick magnet. But at 74 years old it really doesn't matter, I just appreciate the company.
Finally I think I prefer the key of G.
