I've been doing the low carb thing for years now... And occasionally I'll still get a hankerin' for bread. Unfortunately, most of the bread-like things that are acceptable on a low-carb diet aren't very tasty. I'm happy to say that's not the case with the Great Low Carb Bread Co. This Plain bread tasts just like bread. It isn't some fluffy, white Wonder Bread... Visually - it looks more like one of the generic, brown, "wheat" breads you'll see on grocery store shelves. It's tan in color, and you can see bits of fiber in the bread. As far as the texture and taste go - it's more like the "artisan" bread you can get at most grocery stores. It's fairly crusty; and it's got a nice, chewy texture. And it tastes basically like plain/wheat bread. It doesn't taste especially nutty or grainy. It's got a nice, neutral, slightly-sweet taste. It makes a great sandwich. It also behaves just like you'd expect bread to in the toaster or on the griddle... Makes perfectly good toast, grilled cheese sandwiches, and french toast. Honestly, if I didn't know better, I'd never guess it was low-carb. You'll definitely want to freeze your bread as soon as it arrives - this stuff doesn't keep long when it's left at room temperature. Also, check out the website - http://www.greatlowcarb.com/ It's a little dated, and the store section is somewhat clunky to navigate... But they've got a wide selection of baked goods there: breads, bagels, buns, and rolls. And if you're buying larger quantities, it gets cheaper.

Idle Hands

I am very very fond of this bread and will very likely purchase it again! The bread is very soft with a delicate crumb, just like "normal" white breads. It's a dense bread, but not doughy. Keep in mind the slices themselves are pretty small (4" across, maybe?) and the flavor of the plain bread is more reminiscent of sourdough than plain white bread, but these are minor nitpicks. They make for wonderful toast and grilled cheese sandwiches. The bread it fairly expensive for what you get (as mentioned previously, the slices are fairly small) so I will put this on the "sometimes" list. It's not a staple for me, but if I had the budget, it would be. Now if I could only find some low-carb marmalade!

Maybe it is because my expectations were low, after having tried tons of low-carb foods that didn't taste any good. And, let's face it, low-carb bread sounds like an oxymoron. But I was pleasantly surprised. It is actually good-tasting, well-textured bread. It wouldn't win any bread-making contest, mind you, but it is pretty decent bread and that, as far as low-carb foods go, is an outstanding achievement. What's more, during a ketogenic diet, a sandwich made with this bread and it didn't take me out of ketosis (as measured with KetoStix). I will add this to my monthly purchases.

I've never ordered food via Amazon so I was a bit skeptical because a few people stated their bread had already molded when they received it. I received my order in two days. As soon as I opened the loaf I packaged slices into freezer bags (2 per bag). There's enough to make 8 sandwiches. Normally I wouldn't eat the ends but for the price I refuse to waste any. LOL After packaging the slices I tried the ends with butter. DELICIOUS!!!! I'm a foodie (low carb now) and I'm picky! This bread passed the test.

I was disappointed when the bread was delivered. It is about half the size of a loaf of bread that you would get from the store. I don't think this bread is worth the $8 and shipping that I paid. The bread taste pretty good. I made a sandwich with mine, and it was good. The bread is a little chewy, but not too bad. If this bread came in a full loaf, or was cheaper I would buy more, but for a little as you get I don't think it is worth it unless you can afford it.

This LC Bread is delicious 😋 for being LC guys 💝!!! I'm on a Low Carb High Fat diet and because I have MS it's been a huge part of my getting healthy and feeling better regime!!! I've found that if I toast it a bit more than regular bread, it's nice and crunchy but not chewy at all!!! I highly recommend this yummy 😋 LC bread to anyone who wants to be able to get healthier by cutting out the sugar and carbs!!! I'll definitely be buying again!!! 💝

Love this bread! Been low carbing for 2 years without a sandwich. First time I was able to have a grilled cheese and boy did I enjoy it. The bread should be frozen as soon as you get it. I put mine straight in toaster out of the freezer. Another idea is making hamburgers like grilled cheese...so good! I have now purchased direct from the mfr. as the price is much cheaper and they have a wide selection of low carb items ...can't wait to try the pasta!

Positives: [+] Tastes very (very) good (almost a very slight 'rye' taste, but not strong if you dislike rye) [+] Low carb [+] Toasts quite well (don't put it on too long) Neutral: [*] Feels 'drier' than other bread, but fills up stomach better. (I suspect from the fiber content) Negatives: [-] Toasting too long (dark setting on toaster) will dry this out too much. You'll need to dial your toaster back a little bit if you want to preserve any moisture

This bread is quite good if you toast it, which I am fine with. We just keep it in the freezer and toast it whenever we want some. Sadly, the shipping costs are exorbitant, so I can’t afford to get it very often. 😢 However, if you are on a low-carb diet for any reason, I can tell you that this bread did not cause my sugar to go up at ALL, so it really IS carb free, (or very close to it.) Good product if you can afford the shipping. 👍🙂

Excellent bread, and as close to regular bread as I've found. It's dense and toasts well and makes a great sanwhich. I've also grilled it for a grilled cheese and it's delicious if you're low carb dieting. Worth the money! Also great customer service. I was inadvertently sent a single loaf instead of two loaves and they responded to me on a Sunday with an apology and immediate credit back. I Will be a return customer for sure!

This is the BEST low carb bread out there. No joke this stuff is so similar to "regular" bread that you may not even notice a difference. Looks, feels, tastes, and smells like real bread. I was so happy to find this. My only complaint is that the shipping price is so high that I can't afford to buy this regularly - I'll to save up for splurges ($10 is too much shipping when the bread is over $7)

Enjoying having break product without the carbs -- it's texture is excellent, tastes good, toasts up nicely and very enjoyable. I'll order them again, and recommend them to anyone who's carb counting. I use half at breakfast, with a Tbsp of whipped cream cheese, one egg and 2 pieces of bacon and am satisfied all day. The fiber in these bagels, are filling, without making them dry or cardboard texture.

I never write reviews, and shamefully always refer to them when purchasing something, BUT this is my first review because I'm blown away by the quality of this product. Soft and toasts beautifully, although it needs a longer toast than others because of the fiber. It's 1 smart pt in current WW world, or 1 net carb for lo carbers but also delivers 7grams of fiber and protein per slice! WOOT.

If eaten untoasted in a ham n cheese sandwich, I found the bread too chewy and odd. But toast these puppies and you are golden! Loved them in grilled cheese or with avocado or egg on top. Even the kids accept these toasts. However, these are expensive, so I save every slice in the freezer for me and give my kids the regular bread at a quarter of the price.

Not bad at all for a low carb bread. I had it toasted with some butter. Unfortunately the shipping cost is too expensive, almost double the price of the bread, so I won't buy it again or maybe i'll order it as a rare treat. I just saw they marked the bread with free shipping but the shipping cost is included in the price, so not so free after all!
