I have really grown to love this product, so much so that I just bought the "three-pack," because it's a better deal. I tend to like simple foods, and having been a vegetarian for almost 40 years, I've tried a lot of protein substitutes! I haven't been in a grocery store in 6 months (!) due to the pandemic, so I have been experimenting with some protein-alternative products like this. The first time I tried this product, it seemed bland to me, even in a stir fry. Then, the next time I re-constituted some of it (I use the stovetop method), I added curry powder. It is great! The curry flavor soaks right in as the water absorbs. Then I add to a stir-fry or salad, or just eat it as a snack; to me, it is delicious. The package says a serving is 5/8 cup. For me, a serving is more like 3/8 cup, and so I make a batch of this every three days. It is super high in protein, iron, fiber, and potassium and has good calcium content too. It is also low fat and relatively low cal.. I'm really glad I took a chance on this product, and will surely continue to use it even when the pandemic is someday over.

I really love this protein b/c it is low fat and very high protein and very affordable. I also love it b/c I can throw it in the pantry (rather than taking up space in the fridge) and it will still be good for year! It is an excellent meal idea for camping because this protein easily rehydrates within minutes. I rehydrate this in a faux chicken broth and it is delicious. After rehydrating the protein pieces, they are soft and chewy. To get the outside to crisp up you have to sautee or fry them on the stove top. I usually just rehydrate and throw these pieces on top of my salad. Now, the texture is not "just like" chicken. It doesn't pull apart like chicken so it wont fool anyone if you're trying to sneak it into a meal. If you're looking for an animal-free, cruelty-free plant based protein that DOES look and taste like chicken, check out Daring chicken which is more pricey than this option.

Although I am not vegetarian, I am trying to eat less meat and ran across this product when doing a general search for meat substitutes. I like this product a lot and will order it again when I run out. It has a good texture and I use it in everything from slow cooker recipes to burritos and stir fry. It requires no special storage and the long shelf life is good for folks that cook for one person most of the time. My one caveat is that if you use this product, reconstitute it in broth with salt and pepper and whatever seasoning that is appropriate for what ever you are going to use it in because it is very, very bland. The upside to this is that in things like slow cooker dishes it takes on the flavors of the other ingredients.

My friend made a dish I asked her “where did she get the meat from” she told me “from Amazon.” She showed me the one she purchased it was another brand I started to see other brands that was less expensive and more for your money after reading some reviews I decided to try this brand. I ordered this yesterday and it came 5am this morning. I followed the direction on rehydrating it and it turned out perfectly. I rehydrated it with some vegan chicken seasoning then sautéed it in a little olive oil vegetables then added some sweet and sour sauce and it came out fantastic. The texture is good although it has a somewhat little bean taste but overall I like it and will be buying again.

Here's how I prep them- 80 g tvp 240 g (1 cup) water 2 bullion cubes 1/4 tsp msg (can probably sub out with soy sauce or something) onion powder garlic powder Microwave the above in a bowl for 4-5 minutes. Heat up skillet with oil and cook until browned on both sides. SO delicious and versatile! Serves 3-2 people. I microwave extra and store it in the fridge for up to a few days, then pan fry it right before serving. I usually have it with broccoli, sometimes with general tsao sauce, also had it a couple times with bbq sauce in a sandwich. Adjust the sodium you add in the first step if you plan on adding sauce.

I will continue to buy this. The unique shape makes it a great substitute for stews and stir fry. I rehydrate them in broths and seasoned water for more flavor (rather than in just water as the package says). I like to break them into smaller pieces BEFORE I hydrate. They are much tougher to cut afterward. If you use in a typical "beef" stew recipe use with a "no beef" bouillon for great flavor. The longer is simmers the better the flavor. I also freeze the stew for later lunches and it freezes great. They have a beef flavored too, I use them both interchangeably if I soak in the bouillon.

My first attempt at making a General Tso vegetarian dish was fun and tasted great. Though I normally make my own sauces, I used the simply organic simmer sauce to keep it simple and less $$. After soaking 4 oz of the chips as directed, I tossed them in a nonstick pan with a little oil for browning, poured in half a pouch of sauce and served rice w/toasted sesame oil, broccoli, and walnuts. Delicious! I'd much prefer a compressed nugget shape for a firm chew, but knowing this brand is hexane-free is a relief.

This product is a great vegan substitute in any recipe where you would normally use chicken. The product itself doesn't have a lot of flavor, so it's best used in recipes with sauces and spices. I use it in Tortilla Soup, breaded in Chicken Cacciatore, Asian stir frys, and chopped into Chicken Salad. It's the right color and texture and it fools a lot of meat eaters. Just don't expect it to taste like chicken on it's own. Easy to use, just hydrate it in boiling water before adding it to your recipe.

Other than entirely and happily satisfied, we found it's so much better with flavoring, as it has literally no taste at all. Alternatively, my husband thought it "tasted like cardboard" without help. Then he agreed with me, now that I've learned, it's actually great, as it really absorbs seasonings. If not adding to soups or other already seasoned sauces/dressings, I add seasoning to the reconstituting water and it's ready to add to eggs, salads, sandwiches, etc.

It's a very versatile product for vegan protein. The macro balance is fantastic, especially when paired with veggies. I use this for Asian and Latin inspired dishes, and it works great. Pair it with a good vegan broth of choice, and it'll fulfill all your needs. The texture is good and can be adjusted to how you cook it. It takes on flavors well and does well with reduced sauces. It's one of my three go-to protein sources.

Wayyyyy better then I thought it would be. Doesn't taste exactly like chicken, it taste more like chicken skin. Which is pretty good, cook it in the pan with water like directions say, an then after that I recommend putting it in a frying pan with a little bit of oil till you get it crispy. It's very good like I could eat this every night an be satisfied. I'm excited to try all the other flavors they have to offer

I can't speak for safety of this product, I am not an expert. What I know is that I like how it taste, cook, the texture, the large pieces. I put the desired amount on a skillet, add water and spices, cover, bring to the boiling, turn the heat off, let it stay for a 5ish min, remove lid, add oil and fry or eat as it is. The pieces are on a chewier side. which I like.

I use this a lot to make various vegan dishes. I have Celiac's so I like that it's an gluten free option as I can't do many plant based "meat" products. Some of my favorite things to do is make Thanksliving "turkey" medallions with holiday seasonings in water used to reconstitute them or seasoning them up to make Rubens. They work really really well!

This does not have same texture as chicken. It's like soggy dollar store chicken nuggets without the breading. I tried pan frying it, microwaving it, or just adding hot water. The tecture doesnt change. It's alright but not good for using as Chinese food. It's not hardy like real chicken. I've used tvp meat crumbles a lot. This is not the same.
