This story, told mainly from the viewpoint of a cat, made me laugh, sigh, and cry. It's a great story and when I found the saddest part of the story was based on actual events, I once again felt despair over the vile and cruel things people do just to make a buck. I recommend this book to anyone who loves cats, realistic romances, and life in a big city.

I enjoyed this book so much and you will too if you love cats.... and people. This is such a tenderhearted story I just didn't want it to end. I don't want to give away the nuggets of the overall story but it is a read you won't regret spending the time or money on. Gwen Cooper is a superb novelist she really makes you feel like your there with her during her recount of the events. He

I simply love this book. It seems to be about a cat, but it is so NOT. As I a "Cat person", I treasure the world seen through the eyes of Prudence. The interplay of her feline world and the human world she has had, and is then thrust into is touching and makes the story complex and compelling. I simply love Gwen Cooper's writing. I do not forget her characters, either human or feline. Thanks so much.

I just love this book! Written partly from the cat's point of view and partly from her new human owner, this book really had me from the beginning. Very sweet story. Love Gwen Cooper.

This is a heartwarming story of how a daughter and cat both find love and acceptance through each other. I fell in love with Prudence (the cat!) The only problem...now I can't quit talking to my cats (just in case they can understand me). I got so into it, I had to skip chapter 13 to get to 14 to find out what happens! Then I found out chapter 13 is one of the most important in the book! Read it, you'll love it!

The story is so beautiful. It’s heartwarming, touching, and i will return to it again and again. I recommend it whether or not you are a cat lover. If you are a person with a heart, you will enjoy it.

This is a beautifully written book that will take you from laughter to tears. Written from the cat’s point of view, it is poignant in a way few books today are. Treat yourself and read it!

I loved this book, the character of Prudence, though a cat, tells a sweet, sad story of what happens when a cat's owner dies, and how it effects the cat, and the family around them. The sadness and happiness and pain felt by both Prudence and Laura makes for a very beautiful and resounding story that anyone, but especially a cat or even just a pet owner, can understand. I could not put the book down, and found myself in tears several times throughout the book.

I'm over 3/4 of the way through the book. Its nice to have a light and humorous reading book to where you can just enjoy seeing the world through the eyes of a cat. I have 4 cats and have had as many as 8 at one time. I am sure the author also must have had cats for years with all the insight and charm of "kitty thoughts". I would recommend this good to cat lovers.

Gwen again captivates the reader with this wonderful story of love, and how a cat can mend emotional wounds. I am not the most avid reader but could not put this book down. I am a fan of Homer's Odyssey, and bought this book in time for proceeds to go towards blind cat rescue. With no further anticipation I was elated with this heart warming story. Now I look at my cats different, believing they are communicating with me through thoughts like Prudence does. Awesome book!

As a consummate reader, I usually have three or four books 'in progress.' I enjoy reading, and I have read many good and great books. While reading Love Saves the Day, I enjoyed every minute spent with little Prudence and her humans. The story is one of kindness and compassion, attributes often missing from the world. But when a cat enters the picture, choices are replaced by necessity, and that is enough. Love Saves the Day is a fine story; the reader will not waste his time.

This book is one of those "couldn't put it down" novels. I truly enjoyed the story even if it tugged at my heartstrings and tear ducts from time to time. The idea that my kitties areseeking my smell when I'm not around is very very touching to me. It made me appreciate their love for me more. Would recommend this to any animal lover and certainly any "Homer fan". It was a joy to read.

Heart warming read. I loved how the story was told mostly from the point of view of Prudence. Being a cat owner myself, I found Prudence funny at times and would laugh out loud. It was very easy to get inside this book and imagine what I was reading as if I was right there.

I read this first when it came out and am reading it a second time now - and have purchased 2 more this month as gifts. I love the story being told from the cat's perspective as well as the the main human characters' perspective. And the history of lower Manhattan during the disco/punk years of the late 70's is so fascinating. Great story. Humor, sadness, mother/daughter, cat/owner. A very good read.

***Slight spoilers in this comment!!!! The book was beautiful and heartbreaking and wonderful. I liked that we "heard" from Sarah even though her story line had ended. I enjoyed the book, especially the insights into a cat's mind via Prudence. I struggled reading it a bit because the loss of Sarah struck a chord with me since I have recently lost a parent. And although I cried through various chapters, I finished because I wanted to see how/if Laura finally coped with her loss. I loved "Homer" and I love this book, too.
