I’m always excited when a new book by Gwen Cooper comes out, because it guarantees hours of entertainment from an exquisite writer who knows and understands cats. Her new book celebrates everything that’s wonderful about cats, told in Gwen’s trademark heartwarming and often humorous style. Gwen got the idea for the book earlier this year, just before the world started to shut down, while browsing through a bookstore and spotting the New York Times bestseller The Book of Awesome: Snow Days, Bakery Air, Finding Money in Your Pocket, and Other Simple, Brilliant Things. “From a marketing perspective it was a perfect title, insofar as I immediately and intuitively grasped what the book was about,” writes Gwen in the foreword to her book. “And, just as immediately, I wondered, why isn’t there a Book of PAWsome about cats? And so it was that this book was born.” From cats wiggling their butts before they pounce to seeing your cat sleeping in a sun puddle to bringing home a new toy that your cat will actually play with, this little book reminds us that even in a world turned upside down, cats will always give us a reason to smile. Interspersed with charming illustrations, this uplifting treasure of a book is a must have for cat lovers. At a time when there’s so much bad news everywhere, The Book of PAWSOME offers the purrfect respite from the outside world.

My last cat died two years ago. Until then, I'd lived with cats for most of my 75 years. I've really missed the cats. This book made me feel as though I was again in the company of cats. What a wonderful surprise and a wonderful experience for me! I'd read Ms. Cooper's books about Homer and some of her other cats, with deep pleasure and sympathy. This book evoked my own memories of all the cats who are family for me. Ms. Cooper clearly loves cats, and describes their qualities with a perception which is as clear as her love. And... she leaves space for her readers to retrieve and treasure their own memories of their own cat families, made possible by these portraits of her own family. I wish I could find the words to say exactly what I would like to say about this book but I cannot seem to do it better than I have done just now, inadequate as it is. Anyway, read the book and you will see exactly what I mean!

Who but the incomparable Gwen Cooper, cat-lover/author extraordinaire could so aptly answer the question: Cats, how do I love thee; let me count the ways. And count the ways she does, all 101 of them described in a series of charming vignettes based upon her experiences with her own beloved cats, as well as a working knowledge to which all felinophiles will easily relate. This reader enjoyed savoring the series of essays, reading a few at a time so as to make the enjoyment last longer while allowing the images to settle into a kaleidoscope of cat-related memories and observations. The Book of Pawsome is an experience not to be missed by any lover of cats and another worthy addition to one's library of Gwen Cooper works.

Gwen Cooper is back with another cat book! You can read a little or a lot and feel happy. Each "subject" is 1-2 pages long, with 101 altogether. The content points out the greatness of cats. Some of the pages have cute drawings on them. Page 71 mentions "cats are pros at social distancing", so you know the book ties into our current times. Those who really love cats will get it and relate it to their cats. Those sitting on the fence... well, it's time to convert. If you like the vibe of Chicken Soup for the Soul books, this could be for you. Just expect a faster read. This book is a treat to read on breaks when you need to get away from the frenetic pace of the world.

A wonderful and exact observers of all things catfull, Gwen Cooper has collected 101 sometimes minute, sometimes cute, always heart-warming things about cat behavior we’ve all seen and loved, but never really articulated. I found myself saying again and again, as I finished another chapter punctuated with “That’s pawsome!” – “Hey, that’s actually interesting.” It’s a great book to browse through when you’re sitting quietly with your cat on your lap or on the windowsill – you will find yourself glancing over to her, realizing that’s exactly what your cat does too, and muttering to yourself, “Actually, that is pawsome!”

Yet another wonderful book from the excellent story teller, Gwen Cooper. I devoured her first best seller, Homer's Odyssey: A Fearless Feline Tale and fell in love with Homer. I admired Gwen's courage and her love of all things cats, and I've been a fan ever since Therefore it was no question that I would read The Book of Pawsome. If you love cats, you will love this book. If you don't love cats, you very well could after reading the book. It's full of furry love, fun, humor, and everything wonderful in Gwen's feline journey Thank you Gwen for yet another fine read that I will enjoy over and over again.

Due to the COVID /lockdown my work/business as a cat sitter has completely stopped........ I’m missing my feline friends hugely but reading, especially cat books is keeping me sane 💜 Gwen’s cat stories and books are Pawsome! (Sorry couldn’t resist) All the short articles/stories are very amusing and have made me laugh out loud, much to my cat’s utter disgust! How dare I interrupt his 20 hours of sleep! This book is a great distraction from the current world situation and cat people will love 💜 it.

I love Gwen's book and have read all of them and own them as well. I had the pleasure if meeting her a couple of years ago at Cat Con in LA. Her love for cats not just her own but cats in general shows through her writings and this book is no exception. Her vignettes on Homer and crew are always wonderful to read about and we get to know them better and better. Cat lovers will relate and reconise our own cats in many of the chapters. It is an easy ready as well as being delightful and funny.

Another delightful book from Gwen Cooper! I’ve always loved living with cats, and reading The Book of Pawsome reminds me of all the reasons why! Gwen’s writing is friendly, funny and heartwarming, and the illustrations by Jessica Rodrigue are so adorable. With each entry being just a page or two in length, I enjoyed being able to read as much or as little as I wanted in a sitting. If you like cats, you’ll find this book absolutely PAWSOME!

Love this book. It just makes me laugh. Totally relatable snippets on Why Cats Make Us So Happy. I love Gwen Cooper and all her books. I was hooked after Homer's stories, but she just keeps on giving us wonderful, heartwarming and fun books about our fur babies. I love all animals, but am definitely a cat person and obviously so is Gwen. Thank you Gwen for once again giving us such a great book! :) >^..^<

Gwen Cooper writes with a true cat loving heart. This book will take you on a memory laden journey. Each page describes cat antics that will evoke your own memories of every cat you've ever had the privilege of living with. As you read, you'll be saying things like "Oh my God, Ruban used to do that" "That is Bill to a tee" "Emily acted like that, boy I sure miss that cat". Does a heart good.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Almost every chapter described a characteristic, habit, or funny thing that one of our cats have done over the years. I laughed my way through the book at a time when I haven't found much to laugh about. I read the Kindle version, loved it so much that I bought the paperback for my husband to enjoy. Thank you! I recommend this book to all cat lovers.

Telling it like it is

This is great! I can relate to almost everything in "The Book of Pawsome", it is filled with funny anecdotes about our furry feline friends. All the cats I have known over the years have done many of the same things Gwen writes about. Reading through this brought back fond memories of some fur babies who are no longer with me, it helped me to remember them with a smile and laugh.

If you are looking for a quick read with many "feel good" examples of why we love cats (as if we need any), this book is so cute! I'm reading it and nodding at every example of why cats are "pawsome"! Gwen has an entertaining conversation with her readers, which is her wonderful style, and as cat owners we can SO relate! Terrific diversion from the news of the day.
