    4 month review

TLDR: these are fantastic I ordered these about 4 months ago and figured I would wait to give a full review. Out of the box these are fantastic for a commuter tire, no more filling them with air, no more punctures, no more worrying about flattening the rear tire because of the added groceries weight, just install them and move on. The installation process was a little time consuming because of the pins, but I've had regular tires that were harder to put on, budget about 20 minutes/one beer per tire. Getting them on the tire can be a little tricky, but I ended up using the zip tie they came with to hold one side on and it was much easier, also the rubber is stretchy which helps, otherwise a friend would be a good idea. Once they pins click in place these arent going anywhere, including I am pretty sure off of the rim, I think you would have to cut it off if you ever wanted to remove it. The other review are correct that it has a slick coating for the first 100 miles, But I was able to remove it super quickly by doing a few laps along a gravel road so if you have one available that is an option. Ride quality wise they are a little stiff at first, but an equivalent sized gatorskin tire is much worse and these get a little softer after the break in period. The only downside I have noticed is that during cornering because they dont deform to the road they will slide out a little earlier then a regular tire, but for commuter purposes you shouldnt be cornering that hard anyway and at 40mm they are wide enough you shoudnt worry unless you are trying to race on them. I put them on an ebike so I am not sure but I also suspect these have a higher rolling resistance compared to other tires but I have not noticed because of the motor. Overall I have put almost 700 miles on them over gravel, bike path and road and there has been no deformation and minimal wear. The only things I would suggest changing would be to make the design a little more grippy, and to wait for the color choice you want. But if you are looking for a fire and forget commuter tire these are it. Honestly I'm not even sure where my bike pump is at this point.

    Love these tires!

This is a product that all tire manufacturers should be watching. Bicycle manufacturers should consider these as standard on their road bikes. Use: Paved/Country roads Rims: Carbon. Not a scratch from install/pins Install: There are a lot of videos/concern about installation. My installation experience really wasn’t more difficult than installing a tube or tubeless tire. A lot less mess too. I watched the video, warmed the tire, used the provided tool to seat the pins. Made sure the tire was seated along the rim. Feel: I purchased the “hard” compound in red from the European Tannus site because the USA site only carried black. When installed they have slightly less bounce than an air tire but they feel the same as my old tubeless road tires when inflated to 90 psi.

    Saving my Wallet

I bike around Albuquerque, NM where sandbur thorns are commonly found on the roads. I bought a pair of the 700x28 Semi-Slicks after going through 3 inner tubes in less than a month. These solid tires have already paid themselves off by the replacement tubes I haven't had to buy. Now the rides are not as comfortable as a traditional air-filled tire and I have to work a little harder peddling on inclines, but I don't really mind that, and from all the sandburs that these tires have already picked up that would have caused me to have a flat, I can't complain. These tires have given me peace of mind and are saving me money in the long-term.

    Absolute win on a handcycle!

I am paraplegic and ride a trike handcycle. Getting off my bike onto the ground and fixing a flat is getting harder and harder to do as my body ages. I put these tires on my bike a bit over 2,000 miles ago. LOVE THEM. The piece of mind these tires give me is beyond my ability to express. Just amazing.

    Great experience all around

Having a 20 mile round-trip commute in Minnesota can be kind of rough on your bike. I have my winter bike and I like to take advantage of the road bike when there is no snow. The winter beaten roads were rough on my road bike tires. Installation with the video was completely doable, I wouldn't say easy, but sense of accomplishment was nice. I was getting a flat at least a couple times a week, I've now put about 100 miles on my two slicks and after an odd feeling first 3 to 5 miles they've really settled in and I feel very secure on them. I've recommended a friend who is having similar issues!

    Not easy to install

Definitely not a 1 person install with our aid. I had to pre stretch it using ratchet strap on one end and trailer hitch on other. Used this to keep it stretched while installing it onto the rim. Snapped inserts into place onto the rim using a screwdriver. Rides well and looking forward to no more flats. I would buy again.

    Didn't get Screwed

Third week on Tannus tires and the picture says it all. Great commuter tire. I was using a larger tire to reduce flats, but the mud would bring me to a stop due to lack of tire clearance. Tannus 28mm run much smaller (like a 25mm) than my Continental 28mm, so there is plenty of clearance now. Good ride quality

    Pegs

700c X 28 tire came with X 20 pegs. Much too small to use. I'm having to ride without them.

Tannus with the assist on hubless wheel

I needed an airless tire to accomplish this hubless design. (Air valve would block free movement) Tannus to the rescue!

Getting them on by myself was a bit of a challenge, I found that zip tying each part of the tire that was on the rim before attempting to pry the next section onto the rim was helpful. As for the tires, they work great! I rode them to work and they were covered in goat heads. A regular tire would have been absolutely shredded. It’s a huge relief to have immortal tires now, now I can actually bike to work! I have no idea how I’ll replace them if/when they finally wear out though, these fellas are crazy tough to get on and off, so hopefully they last forever!
