Trade Ride Comfort for Peace of Mind
I commute to work daily on my Juiced Cross Current X ebike. I have no choice but to go down a road with a lot of industrial traffic and as such picked up a lot of large punctures from nails and screws before switching to these tires. I purchased and installed the Shield: 700x40 airless tires and now have a small pile of nails and screws on my desk I've kept over the last year that would have otherwise resulted in a flat. I love the peace of mind that comes with knowing your tires are immune to flats. The ride leaves a little to be desired but I find the trade off to be well worth it. I took off a star because after about only 1000 miles on the tire the tread has worn off completely on my rear tire making it substantially less grippy if I lock up the rear brake or if its wet out. I reached out to CS today to see if I qualify for the 3000 mile guarantee.

No more flat anxiety
I just purchased a set of airless (solid) 26 X 1 3/8 tires for my E-Bike which had 226 X 1.50" normal tube tires. I had gotten multiple flats due to the roads I mostly ride on. More than once I pushed the flat tire bike home for at least a mile. Time to change. I found Tannus tires and the reviews looked good the price was about double what a normal heavy duty tube tire might cost, but with the 3000 mile life expectancy and no possibility of flats, I knew this was for my bike. I currently carry, a couple tubes in side bags, tire changing tools, and wrenches to take the tires off for flats. Lots of extra weight I now do not need. I heard the solid tires might be difficult to install, but I am pretty handy mechanically, so I just jumped in. I watched the YouTube how to install the solid tires, and went for it. In total, including removing both front and rear tires from the bike, unmounting the old tires, taking off the wheel tape prior to installation, and the actual install of both tires, it took me about 1.5 hours to get both on the bike. It actually was fairly easy with the size tires I got and they slipped on the rim without any issue or forcing. I bought the hand tool which helps you snap in the pins which hold the tire on the rim (20$) and can say it was worth it to buy that too.. There are quite a lot of pins to put into the tire prior to the mount, and that takes about 10 minutes per tire must sticking them into their holes, but the tire slipped on quickly, then another 10 minutes using the hand tool to snap the pins in place, and 10 minutes to remount the whole assembly back onto my bike (each tire). I test road it for a couple quick rides up and down my road, and the 80psi advertised feel to me was more like a 60psi feel. With my e-bike and me, 75# bike and 170# me I come out to about 240 or so total weight. The tires are rated for something like 325# each so I am well within the load range. They ride pretty nicely, and though they will probably quiet out after a hundred miles of break-in, at the moment, they do make a bit more noise in hard turns than the old air tires. No big deal, and I expect the break-in will take care of that. But the ride is fine, and I am super glad I have no more flat anxiety.

Mr.
To save money after I retired I decided to get rid of the car do all my local errands on my e-bike pulling a trailer, the only problem was I could never make it more than a quarter mile without a flat rear tire. If you've ever had to change a tire with a hub motor you know how much of a pain this can be. And a had a flat every single time I tried to ride my bike, a dozen flats in six months and not a single successful trip. I was fed up! Tannus Shield 700x40 saved my sanity, my bike, and my retirement! Installing it was some work, but once on all my worries about flats disappeared! I finally for the first time was able to ride flat free, to the grocery store, to the hardware store, anywhere I wanted. That was seven years ago, and countless trips to the store, and have only needed to replace the tire once. Honestly, I can't tell you how much these tires have saved me, in time, in cost, and in anxiety. Thanks Tannus!

Never going back to air tires
I believe these tires saved me from serious injury today, but before I go into that let me just say these aren't the cheap Chinese hard make you go real slow tires. I tried those tires and almost gave up on airless tires all together because they were so horrible. These tires feel fine and while I'm not a very fast rider I have it noticed any noticeable slowing riding these tires. Now to what happened today. I was riding at about 35 mph down hill In a bike lane that is actually in between two car lanes so if you fall you're screwed you're probably going to get hit. I hit a bolt that was a half inch wide and 3/4 of an inch long it embedded itself into the tire all the way up to the head. Had it been a normal air tire it would have deflated instantly I could have lost control and been in between two cars when it did, that would have been really bad. However with this tire I was able to continue to ride and get off the road, this tire may have saved my a$$. I rode another 15 miles and the tire was fine. I did change it because it left a hole that was about a quarter inch wide and the way through. the tire was fine on the way home but I think the structure of the tire might be compromised. I'm never going back to air tires

Tannus has spoiled me.
I have passed many a kidney stone⦠applied Tannus tires to many bikes. Your advice is appreciated. I must confess, I berated someone who was going on and on about the pain experienced when birthing a child. I asserted that installing a Tannus tire has all other Herculean tasks beat. It is, however, worth it. I have also learned a few new swear words during the installations.
Given the horrors of recent days, the fumbling to find an inner tube, a new air-pumped tire, a reliable & portable pump, etc., I am leaving the air-filled bike tire Ponzi scheme behind me, again. Tannus spoiled me.
