My dog has severe and intense fear of fireworks and thunder. Despite turning on white noise machines, the vent over the oven, and music, she always spends independence day and new years eve trembling, panting, and with a racing heartbeat for hours. I was extremely skeptical to try something like this, because I couldn't imagine she would be ok leaving them on and being okay with muffled hearing. I am so glad I tried them anyway! It was a last minute purchase, they arrived new years eve. When I came home from work, I held them in one hand and gave her high value treats from the same hand, so she had to put her face right by them to eat the treat. Then I put the ear muffs on her and immediately delivered more high value treats. Then I immediately gave her a puzzle with her dinner in it, and after that I took them off. About an hour later, as soon as it got dark, I put them back on her for the night. She was normal and even fell asleep in them. She did not tremble, jump or pant all night.
